1. Technology

In 1998 the Company was issued a United States Patent related to growing live plants and vegetables within “Planter Pouches” using artificial soil. Millennium Soil® is our Registered Trademark of the artificial soil.
Millennium Soil® is a totally safe, non-toxic and environmentally friendly material that starts out in crystal form. When the Millennium Soil® crystals come in contact with water, each crystal acts as a powerful sponge, absorbing hundreds of times it weight in water. As the crystals absorb water, they actually “grow” to about the size of a nickel, and appear like globules of crystal clear white Jell-O.

The roots of plants or vegetables growing in our Planter Pouches filled with Millennium Soil® penetrate the globules of gel, and are able to absorb water and nutrients as required….No watering too much….or too little.

2. History

In 1998, shortly after receiving our Patent on the Millennium Soil® System we launched a plant rental business to leverage the benefits offered by the system. In particular, the business focused on renting LIVE PLANT Centerpieces to Restaurants, Hotels, Country Clubs and Caterers as a cost efficient alternative to cut flowers. In the hotel sector, our customers include virtually every major hotel brand such as Hilton, Sheraton, Ritz Carlton, Marriott, Double Tree, Best Western, Embassy Suites, Ramada, Holiday Inn, etc. In the restaurant sector, we service both chains and independent restaurants ranging from fine food to fast food.

As our rental business grew, more consumers saw our products, and a consumer demand naturally developed. Thus, in response to this demand, PlantMakers developed a line of consumer products based upon our Millennium Soil® technology.

While the Company’s initial product line has broad market appeal, it is our intent to continue to introduce unique products made possible by the Millennium Soil® Technology.

4. Banking And Insurance

PlantMakers banks with Wachovia, the 4th largest bank holding company in the US.
PlantMakers, Inc. maintains General Liability and Product Liability Insurance of $2,000,000 with Safeco National Insurance Company. (Safeco).
A.M. Best Co. has affirmed the financial strength rating of A (Excellent) and an issuer credit rating of "A+" for the Safeco Insurance Companies.
